Teenagers need to speak up
In school and in life, we always hear we need to be heard. Teachers tell us to voice our opinions and craft our ideas about life.
The problem is that when we try to speak our minds, people try to silence or stop us from speaking. One of the biggest complaints about us and our opinions is that we are kids. Older people think that our opinion doesn’t matter, but we are the next generation, and we need to voice our opinions.
One of the biggest and best ways to get our opinions heard is the Internet. We are connected to people around the world and are able to make blogs, videos and websites that can be seen by all sorts of people all around the world.
Older people say that the next generation will be worse than the one before it but each generation has new things to deal with.
My generation faces things like cyber bullying and domestic terrorism, and we need to show how we are different from the ancestors and generations that came before us.
The problem is that most teens or kids either don’t know what to say or are ignored for being kids. We need to turn to the role models who exist for us. People such as Malala Yousafazi have spoken up and fought for important rights. While it has not been easy for her in any way, shape or form, she is speaking up and trying to fix issues that she thinks are wrong.
I just hope that kids in America will have the guts to say what needs to be fixed and let their voices be heard.
