For some, there was a time when Flex Time was a rest period from the madness. Now, it’s just another 25 minutes in your second block.
“Flex” is no longer flexible.
What is the reason for the change? Is it the fault of the vapers or was it the one fight?
For me, Flex Time was a time to quickly and efficiently get help from my teachers and peers. Knowing I could see my teachers and get help when I needed it made me comfortable in asking questions in class and elaborating on them when I had the chance during flex.
Now, we are on a schedule based on people unrelated to us. Since other people make mistakes, we have to pay the price.
Another disadvantage in this situation is the lack of socialization. We are supposed to be quiet in class but aren’t able to go to the gym or other places to talk to our friends. It is challenging to have an honest conversation through text messages.
Although the adults in the building claim to have our best interest in mind, they cease to acknowledge that our social life is also a big part of our lives. While the time we went to the gym was short, I felt more sociable and like I was able to interact with other students I wouldn’t otherwise see.
Talking with friends during class changes is very difficult. While you can meet up with friends, some teachers and faculty do not allow students to stand for a very long time before they tell students to go to class.
A flex time when you can do what you please will help students to be able to get as much help from their teachers as possible while still being able to socialize and interact with other students.
This change will benefit the comfort of students and teachers during Flex Time.
