What we owe our veterans

Somebody gave up their luxuries as an American so that we could have our beloved freedom. Somebody sacrificed his or her life so we could live in peace and harmony. This person and very many others are known as “veterans.”

Many Americans take for granted the dedication of our service members, which sparks the question, “What do we owe our veterans?”

I strongly believe that they do not get what they deserve. There are very many veterans who are waiting on health care from the VA Hospital, 60,000 to be specific.

This is unacceptable and disappointing considering what our veterans have given in order for us to have.

I would support the idea of the government taking more consideration into the care of our veterans.

I mean, if you want to get technical, we owe them everything.

I could only imagine what this country would be like if it wasn’t for them.

Would we have the freedom that we have now? Would we be be able to worship the religion of our choice? Would we be able to dress the way we wanted? The possibilities are endless. But we do not even have to ponder it because of our veterans.

We do not have to worry about the war in our backyard, and yes, because of the commitment to this country from them.

But what could we do for them as normal citizens? I have a powerful, and effective way to start, a simple “thank you” would go a long way if you happen to pass by a proud veteran with a cap signifying the war that he put his life up to.

Believe me when I say that it would more or less make their day, and everybody owes a “thank you” to every veteran.

As Elmer Davis said, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”
