Freshman adjust to changes
Movies always depict high school as a scary, drama-filled environment. However, as Chapman freshman are learning, the biggest drama is the drama that comes from change.
Time is one major change from middle school to high school. The block schedule lengthens time for students throughout the day.
“The block schedule makes school work easier because there is only four classes throughout the day,” freshman Raegan Metcalf said.
Students also appreciate longer lunches.
“Lunch is longer, so it gives you more time to talk with your friends and not feel rushed,” freshman Aaron Moss.
There are a lot of activities at Chapman to give students the chance to have a good high school experience.
“There’s something for everyone,” math teacher Beth Morin said. “There’s athletics, band and drama club.”
One way students get involved is through athletics.
Metcalf is also a member of the varsity volleyball team.
“My favorite part of being on the team is that we are all so close,” she said.
Of course, athletics aren’t the only types of activities at Chapman.
Freshman Stelly Musser is currently running for student council along with a few other ninth grade candidates.
“I think it helps me to be well rounded,” Musser said.”I wanted to be a part in the student body and have a say in decision making for students. It’s good to know that I’ll play a part in making Chapman a better place.”
