I know many people who like to use their creativity in their free time by creating things.
I, myself, have a hobby of making bracelets or jewelry with beads. You can find me wearing my necklaces and bracelets.
Wouldn’t it be cool to have an opportunity to show off and make some money off of your hobby?
Honestly, I think if I had the opportunity to sell my products, it would give me a booster for starting a business and experiencing a job.
Chapman should let us have an arts and crafts fair.
Something like this could be what some schools call a “market day” and host it annually.
Students would be able to learn and practice marketing skills that will be used in the real world.
This fair can be a way for us to learn how to run a business, how to manage money and time.
For example, setting a budget for products versus money made (and time spent creating and selling).
I believe it would spark creativity and become another way students can bond.
It could also be another opportunity to sell our school merch other than at registration.
We can develop this fair to fund our school too.
Advertising the fair around Inman can help to involve our community, which could help our school raise money.
Students that would like to take part in a crafts fair could have to pay a certain amount to get a spot, like a table, to set up their products, or they could give a percentage of their sales to the school.
Of course, all products would need to be appropriate for a school and family setting.
If one of the goals of Chapman is to build future entrepreneurs, instead of just talking about it, they should make an actual opportunity for students to see what owning a business will be like.
