Protests should not turn violent
The results of the election have caused a stir in the American people. In response to Donald Trump winning, groups of anti-Trump advocates took to the streets and started to protest that, in places, turned to riots.
People need to realize that violent protesting isn’t the answer to the issue and that it doesn’t get the point across.
In American history, people have used nonviolent protesting to combat issues that they don’t agree with. Martin Luther King Jr. protested and disrupted events, but he never broke into violence.
The same can be said about Gandhi who used peaceful protesting in India.
Protesting can be used for good intentions before it devolves into violence. All through the Civil Rights Movement, people used tactics such as sit-ins and boycotts of busses to show that they were against racism and segregation without it being violent.
The people who are protesting have a right to do so, but they shouldn’t turn it into violence and rioting. The people may not agree with the election, and that is okay; everyone has their opinion, but they have no right to riot in the streets because Donald Trump is the President-Elect.
The President-Elect has been chosen, and no matter if you agree with him or not, he was chosen by the people. I believe that if you disagree with the choice that you can be angry, but people shouldn’t take that anger and turn into violent protesting.
