The Chapman girls golf team has made a name for themselves and has received more recognition this year than ever before.
This year, they placed sixth at state.
A variety of factors contributed to the success of this team this 2023-2024 school year.
One of these factors included making goals for themselves.
Junior Adeline Todd was able to achieve an important personal goal.
“My main goal for myself this year was to get All-State,” Todd said.
Todd was able to bring her goal to life and close out the season with the All-State title.
Sophomore Madelyn Strawbridge also set personal goals.
“I really just wanted to shoot better after each time I played,” and she did.
The girls golf team not only grew in the rankings but also as a family.
Both Strawbridge and Todd described how their friendships with the girls on the team progressed as the season went on.
“I was a little nervous at first to make friends but we became close very quickly,” Strawbridge said.
“In the beginning, we didn’t talk to each other, but towards the end, we became a family,” Todd said.
The girls’ relationship with the new coach, Andy Pitt, underwent the same process.
“When he first started, I didn’t know what to think about him, but now that I’ve gotten to know him, he’s cool and helpful,” Strawbridge said.
Todd describes Pitt as “very encouraging and helpful, like family.”
Although the girl’s golf team went far this season, the season was much more than its final result.
