In spring, Chapman hired coach John Goodwin as the new baseball coach.
It’s his second time as a head coach, and he is excited to be coaching and loves the culture of Chapman.
“It’s been great since I came on board at the very end of the spring last year and the beginning of summer,” he said. “I feel like we have a great coaching staff. You know, it’s very knowledgeable, a lot of experience, and (they) love our kids. I’ve loved getting to know our kids, and you know, I’m really looking forward to the season.”
Goodwin said it’s an exciting time but that there are still some unknowns.
“I’m still working on getting to know our kids,” he said. “We have a lot of multi-sport athletes that we’re just now getting to see, so there’s still a lot of learning to do, a lot of seeing to do, and just getting to know our kids is the biggest thing right now.”
Senior Hudson Moss has high hopes for this upcoming season.
“We have very good potential,” he said. “We’ll do very good in the playoffs, even win state if we come together as a team and a family. We can go far.”
Goodwin has confidence in the team this season.
“Our goal is really to our team as I first met them when I was first introduced as head coach is to win a state championship. That is always our goal, and that is what we strive to do and bring back the first one.”
