Chapman has a new math teacher, and his name is Jacob Smith.
Smith is a 2020 graduate and is now teaching prob and stats and intermediate algebra.
Smith is happy and has had a good couple of weeks at Chapman.
“My first two weeks have been good,” he said. “It has been an adjustment being on this side of the classroom.”
Teaching on the 100 hall is special for Smith due to a former teacher who inspired him, Beth Morin.
“Mrs. Morin inspired me in her geometry class,” he said. “She always cared for the students and pushed us to do better.”
Morin has fond memories of Smith.
“Mr. Smith was always a great and hard-working student, and seeing him doing his best back and the place he was at is special,” Morin said.
Smith also has a younger brother at the school: freshman Eli Smith.
Eli Smith said having Jacob Smith here has been an adjustment.
“It’s different having your brother take you to school and work there, and it’s rough getting to school earlier,” Eli Smith said.
Jacob Smith is looking forward to a great rest of the year and to helping his students grow
“I’m looking forward to making them math thinkers not just math doers and looking forward to a great rest of the year,” Smith said
