Every one of us has experienced all kinds of rejection.
Being left out by a friend, not getting the role you wanted or someone declining a date to being turned down from a job or college – these are all examples of rejection.
Sometimes these experiences lead you to think, “Am I good enough?”
People believe that these thoughts only harm, but I think they can do good instead because no one is perfect. People make mistakes all the time.
Being rejected from anything gives you a chance to go back and reflect on things that could use some work.
I think rejection means that it’s not the right time or just not meant for you in general.
For example, if you get rejected from a college, that could be a hint that that school probably won’t be great for you. You might not be able to fully succeed there, so try somewhere else or at a different time.
If you don’t pass a test, that means you should go back over the information.
You are forced to focus on what you need to work on.
Failure is associated with rejection.
But failure one time does not mean failure every time unless you don’t even try to improve.
Yes, rejection can be scary and discouraging.
However, fear keeps people from living.
People are afraid of having to experience that, so they go out of their way to avoid facing it.
No matter the size of the rejection, it’s still true that it hurts. It makes you feel embarrassed, hurt, and, overall, disappointed.
Rejection is something I still struggle to confront. It’s okay if you do too.
We need to be more open with our experiences. It makes you feel better to know that even people you look up to have been through similar trials.
It doesn’t help when we only see and hear about the good things that have happened. There are always obstacles throughout our lives. We can’t act like we don’t have them.
Rejection can promote motivation and provide perspective if you think about it positively.
Everyone needs to fail and get rejected sometimes because it pushes us to try again and work to improve.
So don’t be afraid to get rejected. If you are determined, that one rejection should not stop you, but it can push you to be better.
Try new things because, who knows, maybe everything will work out.
