Therapy through baking

When times are hard, people look for an escape.

Whether it’s eating, drinking or playing tennis, people distract themselves from the rush of life in different ways.

Baking is a special kind of distraction.

With the emergence of the “coquette” trend on social media and the idea of romanticizing parts of life, teenagers have put a certain spotlight on baking.

“Baking because murder is wrong,” a Tiktoker wrote.

Making something “coquette” is making something with bows, something that is dainty, romantic and feminine.

Baking has fallen into the category of these characteristics, but it actually does have therapeutic benefits.

While trying to escape the chaos of the uncontrollable world, baking supplies a relief of something you can control.

Following a recipe with exact measurements and instructions allows one to rely on the development and await the bigger picture — a delicious dessert.

Instead of letting your mind run free on the stress and disappointment of life, you can run through a recipe.

Instead of lashing out at someone, whip something up.

Creating something for yourself and others contributes to the significance of giving and comforting.

Especially with the recent trend, make all the cute desserts and add bows.
