Due to tropical storm Harvey, over 50 counties on the Texas coast have been devastated by flooding. Families have had to evacuate their homes and leave everything behind. Even though the communities in Texas have come together to do what they can, they are still in need of help.

Ron Garner, superintendent of Spartanburg County School District 1, has brought his administrators together and decided to collect water to aid the hurricane victims.

All District 1 schools are collecting water and are really coming together to help.

The District Office has been going from school to school collecting water, along with athletes from Chapman. They have been applauding students for bringing in water and letting them know how proud we all are of the difference they are making.

Here at Chapman, the bottles can be turned into the gym lobby or main office. They will be picked up on Friday, September 1.

“We would love for every family to bring in a case. That would be a big help,” Assistant Principal Andrew McMillan said. Every case matters and anything that is brought in will help

Students are bringing in cases of water, and even gallons to send to Texas.

“Chartwells has donated over 100 cases of water already, and 500 to 600 cases have been brought to the district office,” said Mcmillan.

After the water leaves the District Office, it goes to an agency in Greenville who will take what they can.

District One Schools are coming together as a community to do what they can to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Do what you can to help today!
