Homecoming Court

Homecoming has been a tradition for many years now. Senior girls are sponsored by senior football players, presenting themselves in front of their classmates and participating in the weeks events such as Spirit Day and Camo Day in hope to win their votes and win the title “Homecoming Queen.”

“I decided to run so that I can get the experience,” senior Mallory Carr said, “it’s your senior year and I want to make the memories, it’s not about winning I just want to have fun.”

“I decided to run for homecoming because I wanted to throw myself out of my comfort zone,” senior Maddie Mayfield said, “and of course, live my senior year to the fullest.”

Some girls have waited for this moment all of their high school career.

“Every year I’ve went and watched the homecoming parades and assemblies” senior Gracie Barnett said, “Now I’m ready to be on the field and participating with all of my classmates.”

However, some girls weren’t as focused on the event.

“I wasn’t going to do this,” senior Graci Lovett said, “My friends really pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and I’m glad I did it now.”

Throughout the week the school and homecoming court participate in spirit week in order to get the school ready for homecoming and the football game.

“I’m most excited for dressing up and the game,” senior football player DJ Twitty said, “We’re going to bring home a win.”

However, to some the most important part isn’t the winning; it’s the moment with their family they cherish most.

“I’m most excited about walking down with my dad on Friday night,” Mayfield said, “My dad and I are so close and it’ll just be special.”

Through everything, the girls are dedicated to this event and happy to be a part of it.

“I’m excited to share this moment with the girls I’ve grown up with,” Carr said.
