Seniors prepare for future after Chapman
“They are right when they say that it goes so quickly.”
These words were from senior Maddie Mayfield about just how fast the time can pass in high school.
Seniors have been vying for the moment when they gain their diploma and head towards college. The class of 2018 is the next group from Chapman that will be leaving and heading to both new goals and new opportunities.
Several seniors have already made definitive plans for next year.
“I’m planning on attending Appalachian State University and studying biology,” Richard Tucker said.
“I’m planning to go to Furman and major in pre-engineering,” Jacob Morris said.
“I’m going to Anderson University and studying secondary English education,” Maddie Mayfield said.
“I plan on going to Lander to study pre-med and then transfer to USC Columbia to get a degree in physical therapy,” Pearson Timmons said.
While many students are going the 4-year college route, some students may go another way. One of those students is Tyler Charlton.
“I’m graduating early in December and going into the Marine Corps,” Charlton said.
Charlton feels like the Marines is a calling he has felt for a long time and he thinks it is the path he needs to go down.
One thing the seniors were thinking about was just the passage of time since they had been freshmen.
“Honestly it felt like yesterday I was starting high school,” Tucker said.
“It’s weird, they didn’t lie to us when they said high school flies by,” Mayfield said.
After over three years of high school, Chapman seniors have advice for younger students.
“I would tell myself to not let what people say get to you,” Mayfield said.
“Just enjoy the time you have and try not to rush it,” Timmons said.
“I wouldn’t change a thing about it because it could change where I am now and what could happen to me later in life,” Charlton said.
