McCarter transitioning to new role as AD
The athletic director position here at Chapman has never failed to have very dedicated, mission-based leadership over the years.
Recently, Greg Wilson decided to pass down the reins of the position to long-time coach Kendall McCarter. McCarter said he feels ready to tackle this endeavor.
“My 23 previous years of teaching and coaching have prepared me for the job,” McCarter said.
The athletic director position is responsible for several things such as making sure that there are no conflicts in team schedules, making sure that teams have the equipment they need to practice and succeed at their sport and representing the school in a way that presents our athletics program in a top-notch manner.
Also, they are responsible for making sure that Chapman’s teams perform to the best of their abilities and have the greatest opportunities to do so.
It is no simple task to change a position like this in the school, but due to McCarter already being very experienced with the current coaching staff and very familiar with how things are supposed to run, the change has been easier.
“The transition has been great and effortless, and it helps that I have been in the building for six years,” McCarter said.
McCarter also feels very prepared to take on the position with the help of having a master’s degree in Athletic Administration.
Although it may take a little while to adjust to the new environment and position, he has already proven to be more than qualified for the job.
