Passion

Passion (noun): strong and barely controllable emotion.

Passion is something that I’ve always had towards anything I do. Whether it’s writing or singing, I always strive to put all the effort I can towards bettering it and myself in that area.

Through years of being passionate and determined I’ve faced many trials and people that didn’t share or understand the love I contained for the activity I was doing.

I’ve struggled with whether or not to continue to push and strive towards improving when it feels like the people around me are getting annoyed and frustrated with my determination. There have been cases where I decided to take a step back and focus more on my peers approval rather than continuing to grow in my love and knowledge for the activity.

I know that I am not the only one who’s been through this. Whether you’re on a sports team, a staff or a group of performers, there are always those people who don’t understand your passion for the task at hand. They continue to look down on you and get frustrated because of how you remain focused and go above the minimum.

I’m here to tell you, don’t quit and definitely don’t lose the drive you contain.

You continuing to push through the negativity and continuing to reach above the expected is a testament towards your character. It speaks to who you are and what you stand for, passion and willingness to let the “boss” rely on you for things that need to get done. That won’t just stop in high school; your determination will carry on with you through college and the workplace and you will be acknowledged for it in rewarding and positive ways.

I know it’s hard to be the person being talked about, the person that gets dirty looks, the person who feels like she doesn’t have the support around you to better the performance, program or team.

I’ve been there and I’ve quit before and let others walk over me, but when I continued to push through the payoff was of the utmost rewarding.

When you continue to contain that passion and willingness to grow, the rewards are much sweeter and fulfilling. When there are people that don’t understand and look down on you for your ability to go above the minimum and you then get rewarded, it’s like a breath of fresh air and redemption.

Nobody can take that passion away from you unless you let them. No matter what they say it’s up to you to keep your head held high and continue to better yourself. Your hard work will pay off and your dedication will be recognized. Positivity and passion are traits that you should never be ashamed of, no matter the people around you. Never let negativity hold you back from your full potential and the thing that makes you happy.
