Inman launches the Inman App
On Sept. 30, Inman launched The Inman App, an app filled with connections to businesses and events around our city. Presiding President of Chamber of Commerce David Grayshock says that the thought behind this app was one with all good intention for Inman.
“We [the community] have changed into a digital age at this point in time and a lot of our younger generation use technology for everything,” Grayshock said. “Our Inman residents are always looking for things to do in Inman to help our local community, now you go to the app and shows everything in the local Inman area.”
Mayor Cornelius Huff supports the reasoning behind taking this step for Inman.
“It’s just another piece of the puzzle of excellence that our community is thriving toward,” Huff says. “I’m so proud of the Chamber of Commerce for providing vision and making it come to pass.”
Grayshock hopes that this app will help the economy here in Inman.
“It will evolve our community to think more locally instead of them thinking they need to go to the mall to get something,” Grayshock said. “It’ll bring more business and help people invest local, live local and shop local as opposed to them moving away or shopping away.”
The app provides information for several things going on in the community.
“You can pick up restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, events and grocery stores,” Grayshock said. “It’s easily accessible and very easy to use.”
When the app was launched at Harvest Day, there was a drawing that people put their names in for the prize of a $250 gift card.
“The winner of the $250 app gift card for shopping locally is Mike Dover,” Grayshock said. “We’re going to be doing more of those types of things [giveaways] to get people to shop local alongside businesses that advertise through the app.”
So far, the app has performed well and is expected to continue to grow as more people find out about it.
“It’s been up and running since Harvest Day it’s been fantastic so far,” Grayshock said. “Anyone from teenagers to retired citizens can go play with the app and find several things that they probably didn’t know that existed in Inman.”
