2017-18 NBA Preview

With the amount of trades and transactions being made in today’s NBA, it is becoming more and more difficult to predict what will happen this season.

One of the most talked about trades of the offseason was when the Bostons Celtics worked out a mega-trade deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers in which the Celtics gave up Jae Crowder, Isaiah Thomas, and Ante Zizic, in return for Kyrie Irving.

I feel that the Cavs came out with more to work with after the trade. The Celtics lost key components of their starting lineup, and the Cavs only gained from the deal.

Lebron James will now have some help on the floor, whereas before, they gave up many points just from there not being a “powerhouse” on the court.

My prediction is that the Cavs will be even stronger than last year and will have more depth in the lineup that allows the starters to rest and come back in when necessary. I don’t think that there are many other teams in the Eastern Division that are capable of keeping up with the strength that the Cavs currently have.

Lebron needed this help pretty badly. I feel like the Cavs bench could not keep up in the big games that required 100 percent of effort.

In the Western Division, Golden State still seems to be a force that cannot be reckoned with. They didn’t really make any changes in the offseason, and will probably have a similar season as last year if things continue to go the way they are going.

There just does not seem to be a team in the West capable of contending with the Warriors yet.

Another thing to look forward to in this upcoming season is going to be the fight for the Rookie of the Year award.

Lonzo Ball, Markelle Fultz, and Ben Simmons will just be part of a close race for the award, and the new talent coming in the league is something to be very excited about.

There are teams that were in need of the boost of talent that these new players will bring into the programs.

The upcoming NBA season is definitely something to look forward to. With all of the offseason shakeups, it is nearly impossible to decide what is going to happen and what teams will come out on top.
