Japan House opens in Inman
One way that the community has begun to see Inman thriving and growing are the businesses that have branched into our town. Zaxby’s, Quik Trip and most recently, Japan House have opened in Inman and have brought a lot of new people in to shop, or eat, local.
On Oct. 10, Japan House opened up in the old Burger King building and just like any other new business, it has been busy ever since.
The menu ranges from sushi to hibachi steak, providing a wide variety for everyone. For a picky eater like myself, there are several choices that don’t venture too far out of the comfort zone, including hibachi steak, teriyaki chicken and, for the kids, a chicken finger plate. However, if you’re looking to try new things or are a fan of true Japanese food, the choices are endless with different sushi, soup and noodle choices.
The prices are reasonable, no more or less than Fuji Express Japanese Steakhouse, which most people are comparing Japan House to. However, money is being saved in the fact that it’s much more convenient than driving to Spartanburg or Boiling Spring, and you’re helping your town thrive.
The main issue is the wait. With it being a new business in a small town, word travels fast, and everybody wants to be able to put their opinion in on the conversation. Therefore, bringing a lot of business ultimately causes a long wait. If you chose to go inside the wait isn’t as troubling as the drive-thru. While the wait is frustrating, once the excitement dies down it should handle the situation.
Overall, I was impressed by Japan House and the variety their menu provided along with their prices, and, while the wait for some was frustrating, it is a problem that will handle itself over time.
