This year, Chapman has welcomed many new teachers, including Glenn McGinnis in the math department.
McGinnis transferred to Chapman from Dorman High School but has worked at various schools varying across two states.
He said that Chapman and Dorman are very different especially when it comes to size.
“Dorman just being 10th, 11th and 12th grade is 3500 students, and because of that, your hallways between classes are slammed full of students,” he said. “You can’t even walk in the hallways, and the campus is so sprawling you have people who have to go from this building to three buildings over. The sheer size can make it daunting.”
In McGinnis’ free time, he likes to watch all kinds of movies of different genres.
“There’s so many different genres, so it’s hard to pick just one favorite, but if you’re talking about romantic comedy, I’d say I’d go with ‘The Philadelphia Story,’” McGinnis said.
In his 25 years of teaching, McGinnis has taught various subjects; now he is teaching Algebra 3, statistics and geometry.
“I like to help people and it’s not just math, so if you struggled with chemistry I would be trying my best to show you configurations or anything like that,” McGinnis said.
Math teacher Tyler Berry said it’s great working with McGinnis.
“He’s been at a lot of different schools and taught a lot of different subjects in the past, so it’s really nice to have perspective on different experiences,” Berry said.
McGinnis is excited to be at Chapman and is delighted to help and work with the students and faculty:
“The students are very respectful. They do what you ask. The faculty is really nice.”
