This fall, Chapman welcomed Jared St. Charles as a new earth science teacher and boys varsity basketball coach.
St. Charles previously taught at Campobello Gramling School and coached girls basketball at Landrum High School.
“I love teaching, and I like the coaching part, too, so it kinda goes hand in hand but I like being able to work with the students and just, you know, learn stuff but also get to know them and hopefully they have a good experience in my class,” he said.
And he is doing well as the new basketball coach.
“So far, it’s great,” he said. “I love the kids, and they are respectful. I coached the boys in the summertime so I got to know them pretty well.”
The students like having St.Charles here.
Freshman Duantae’ Nesbitt is one of those students.
“He makes learning fun and easy to learn, and he keeps us in line,” he said.
His co-workers also enjoy his presence in the school.
“He is a kind person and he works well with the students,” science teacher Tina Gragg said. “Overall, he is a good teacher.”
