Teacher Talk: Ms. Hendricks
English teacher Emily Hendricks has not struggled to make her mark on our school in the short time she has had here.
Hendricks is originally from Michigan but moved to South Carolina during college in search of a good opportunity to start her career. She went to high school in the small town of Milan, Michigan and was a dedicated student. Hendricks also recognizes the fact that she has always had her sights set on becoming a teacher.
“I think I have always naturally been a teacher and have wanted to ever since I was young,” Hendricks said.
She believes that certain people are meant to be teachers from the very start of their lives. She also noted that it takes a special kind of person to work with kids and get a better understanding of how their brains learn and function.
Hendricks is in her second year of teaching here and has learned a lot from her students along the way.
“I have learned so much from the students, and I think that they have taught me just as much as I have taught them.”
She has undoubtedly made a difference in the school and never fails to bring a cheerful mood to the classroom each and every day.
She explained that being a teacher is not always the easiest thing, but she wouldn’t have it any other way and continues to always do the best of her ability.
“Becoming a teacher is more of a calling than a decision but I love my students and try to give them the best opportunity possible to be successful.”
