For the 2024-2025 school year Diana Brown took the responsibility of running the media center.
This has been different for Brown because she has always been an assistant, but she is grateful to have the opportunity to be in charge.
“I’ve always been just an assistant, but after doing it and being able to reflect positive changes, I’ve been very happy,” Brown said.
Brown said that she hopes she can make the media center a wonderful experience for students.
“I’m just hoping that there’s a positive experience when you come in here, and I’m hoping that you can feel like you can get the help that you need when needed,” Brown said.
Under Brown’s leadership, the media center has expanded its offerings.
“We added a lot more stuff to fun Friday and we have got a lot more books,” senior Isabella Aponte, who works in the media center as a service learner, said.
They are hoping that this will bring in more students than what already comes more than usual, a plan that already seems to be working.
“I feel like I see more kids checking out books than last year,” Aponte said.
More people in the media center is what Brown wants because it is her favorite part of the job.
“My favorite part of the library is interacting with kids,” she said. “Honestly, it’s fun getting to know people, like, just having them hang out and see me.
So far, students enjoy how interactive and kind Brown is.
“She’s always nice, and she doesn’t reject any questions when normally people will put you down, or they don’t actually want to answer when you ask a question, but she always answers them to the best of her ability,” Aponte said.
