The Toy Drive is a district-wide program created to help families in the Spartanburg community this Christmas season.
The Toy Drive has become a Chapman tradition and is run by the student council.
This program allows Chapman to give back to the local community and those in need.
Toy donations are open until the end of December.
This year Chapman is in charge of donations of the 11-17-year-old age group.
Examples of what to donate include but are not limited to basketballs, footballs, hats, makeup bags, earbuds and journals with pens/colored pencils.
Monetary donations are also allowed. These particular donations will be used to purchase toy items for the kids.
Students can turn in their donations to their first block teachers.
After toys are collected, they will be given to Christmas For All, which is a charitable organization that will give out donations to those in need this holiday season.
The leaders of the student council have done their part in participating in the Toy Drive.
“I give donations during this event because this season is about giving and needs are more highlighted during these times for these kids,” Student Body Historian Elizabeth Lawson said. “Especially during Christmas, kids often compare themselves to others and what they lack in contrast. If I can make a small difference in a kid’s life and make them feel a little better, I will do it.”
