Economics is a required class for all Chapman students to pass before graduating. However, some students won’t take this class seriously and just want to pass.
The attitude towards this class must shift from a nonchalant attitude to an attentive one.
Economics goes over essential financial skills that are necessary for the real world.
Budgeting, insurance, credit, interest, taxes and more are all covered during this course.
Most students have a broad understanding of these topics but lack an in-depth understanding.
The economy is the number one thing affecting every American, so knowing how the economy works is important.
Understandably, students will be forced to take classes they don’t want to. Most students will tune these classes out when taking them just to get it over with. Students might see economics this way, but their teachers need to discuss with their students why economics is different.
Economics is a class where the skills will not only be inside the classroom but outside.
Students will use these vital skills for the rest of their lives.
Economics is especially present with students who already have jobs.
They might have had to open a bank account to transfer their paychecks.
They would have had to open a checking and savings account when opening their bank account.
This is when budgeting and balancing will come into play. They need to decide how much of their percentage of pay to put into savings, how much to spend from their checking account, and more.
When a student lacks focus in their economics class, they may be confused and make all the wrong choices when dealing with their finances.
Knowing the basics of economics and what to look out for is essential for students to be financially successful.
