Chapman and all of Spartanburg School District One will have an e-learning day tomorrow, Jan. 10, due to winter weather.
This will be the first winter weather event for the area in three years.
The last time South Carolina had snow was January 2022.
Snow in the south is a rare event.
The Weather Channel predicts that Inman and surrounding areas can see up to six inches of snow and ice.
Many students and teachers are seen to be excited about the chance to have a three-day week, but also for other reasons.
Senior TJ Pack was raised in Vermont, a state known for record amounts of snow.
“It reminds me of my childhood and having no worries in the world,” Pack said.
Some teachers are just as ready for this big winter storm.
Virtual Lab teacher Kim LaBoard is originally from Florida and rarely saw snow.
“The first time I saw snow, I was 15 years old, and I was visiting North Carolina, and we got six feet of snow,” she said. “It was super exciting.”
After not seeing snow for three years, almost everyone feels frustrated.
“I want snow all the time,” Laboard said.
Although most people feel some excitement, the potential for winter weather presents challenges.
