This spring, Chapman welcomed Logan Stewart, a 2021 graduate, as a student teacher in the theatre department.
Stewart is a student at North Greenville University, and he’s at Chapman to show his passion for theatre.
He wanted to show his love for theatre by returning to Chapman and working with his former teacher, Carrie Ponder.
“I’ve loved the theatre department for the longest time,” he said. “I’ve been talking to Doc about maybe one day taking over the theatre if she retires one day, and so like coming back here, is a really good opportunity to get to know theatre more and to connect with students.”
Stewart began his semester working with students in Theatre 1.
Students agree that Stewart has already made a positive impact. ”
“I think his work ethic in theatre is fantastic,” junior Fallon Greene said. “He’s a super positive guy and a joy to be around overall.”
Senior Gavin Justice echoed Greene’s positive comments.
“He puts passion into what he does,” he said. “He’s just all-around good vibes, no judgment. You can see the dedication that he puts into his work. It’s tangible.”
Both students said they see Stewart having long-term success in teaching theatre.
“I think he would do well managing and directing a whole production,” Justice said.
“I think he has a lot of potential in the theatre industry,” Greene said.
For Ponder, the partnership this semester just makes sense.
“He was a part of a great class,” she said. “They all loved each other very much, and he was the lead in many shows. He contributed to Chapman when he was here, and there is nobody more fitting to be my student teacher.”
