Recently rumors about two new boys sports have been started: boys volleyball and boys lacrosse. 

While the rumor about boys volleyball is true, the one about boys lacrosse isnt. 

Some students have recently heard that if they are interested in playing lacrosse, they can be bussed to Byrnes High School, where they can join the Byrnes team.

This isn’t true.

There’s a good reason for this, according to athletic director Michael Pettit. 

Pettit said that he would have to submit a combination of schools for Byrnes and Chapman to share a lacrosse team, and the board would likely deny the request. 

So boys who are interested in lacrosse may be out of luck, but boys who are interested in volleyball may not be. 

Pettit said that a group of boys recently came to him with interest in starting a boys volleyball team.

Because of this, in April, Pettit is holding an interest meeting for the team. 

Potential players should keep an eye out for announcements.
