Picture this: It’s a Friday or Saturday night after a long school week, and you and your friends want to find something to close and realize.
There is nothing close to Inman or in Inman that has any entertainment value at all for our age group.
You have to go to either Spartanburg, which is a solid 20-30 minute drive, depending on what part of the district you live in or go even farther to Greenville, which can be double the time out there to find something to do.
With this comes a problem that is different from travel: The cost of gas for the driver and the cost of the activity you’re doing with your friends in bigger cities like Greenville and Spartanburg. Prices are most likely higher.
We do understand that during football season, Friday nights are usually better for going to the game with your friends and hanging out after eating with friends.
But right now, what is there to do on the weekends?
So how do you fix the problem? It’s not simple, but it’s doable.
It is hard to attract big business to a smaller town of around 4000 people.
It is possible to bring a big business to Inman, but it needs to be profitable. The plus about moving into Inman there is a plus of a town that wants to grow because of the downtown renovations that has put new businesses in and new restaurants and a patio area for music on mill shows that the people and government of Inman wants to see it grow so instead of adding a new business for an older generation maybe look into a younger generation like ours or a little be younger so i can be a more wider fit for inman.
Some things we would like to see in Inman would be a bowling alley, an arcade, and an indoor sports center with basketball, tennis, volleyball, pickleball courts, and batting cages. This would bring out our age group and many others.
The last thing we would like to see is a drive-in movie theater to bring people to Inman and also bring nostalgia to an older generation but bring a new experience to our generation and the younger.
This also helps because the closest drive-in movie theater in South Carolina is in Greenwood, which is an hour and a half away.
