Former girls soccer coach and entrepreneurship teacher Will Maley retired last year, but he just couldn’t stay away.
Maley is back in two roles: a substitute teacher and a girls soccer assistant.
Maley has been a staple in the Chapman community for nearly 20 years, and he’s made a difference in many people’s lives, including junior Sarah Visoury.
“I’m so excited because he brought positivity to the school and brought up students’ moods during school,” she said.
Junior soccer player Avery Holden is glad to see him back working with the soccer team.
“He had a really big part in the Chapman soccer community,” she said. “It will be nice to see how he can help with us this season.”
To help, Maley will draw on his vast knowledge of soccer.
“I enjoy soccer,” he said. “I’ve been playing since I was 8 years old. I’ve been told by ambassadors of coaches to help out in the sport, so I will continue to do that during my time here.”
Ultimately, though, Maley said he came back in a new capacity for a simple reason: the people.
“I enjoy this school and the relationships with the students and teacher,” he said.
