Hard work and ambition are paying off for senior Jami Moss, who has an internship in communications with Jada Tessnier in the Spartanburg County School District One office.
Moss has a passion for marketing that aligned with her career goals
“I had to take journalism and sports marketing, and those classes aligned me with this opportunity,” she said.
Moss plans to major in communications and minor in public relations in college and hopes this internship will be a stepping stone to a successful career in the industry.
She will have a large portfolio to take with her as a result of this internship. During her time as an intern, she has had the chance to work with social media as well as attend athletic events at a variety of schools.
Moss is a template for other students now that Chapman is emphasizing the importance of internships.
Career Development Facilitator Catherine Gramling said that internships are very beneficial.
“I think internships help students in learning the workforce and all aspects of that career,” she said. “The internship gives you exposure to the workforce and can decide if that’s a career that you’re interested in.”
