Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)is a non-denominational ministry that was founded in 1954 by Dr. Louis Evans, Dr. Roe Johnson, Don McClanen and Branch Rickey. Les Steckel has been the FCA CEO since 2005, but before that he was a head coach for the Minnesota Vikings.

FCA headquarters were originally in Norman, Oklahoma but were later moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In 2012, FCA’s ministries were expanded and there are now “Huddles” that meet all around the world.  FCA was founded to bring together the passions of faith and athletics.

“As a sponsor, I’ve loved seeing how passionate our leadership team is about the students in their school and giving back to their community,” FCA leader Jeanette Kuhn said. “We want to love the people around us well, as Christ loved us.”

There are over 17,000 FCA Huddles in 62 countries all around the world, and over 113,000 people are reached each week. FCA’s mission is to use coaches and athletes to spread the word about Jesus Christ.

“It’s a great time for students to fellowship together with a good ol’ biscuit, worship and listen to a guest speaker from our school or community,” Kuhn said.

Many stars have been involved in FCA in order to give speeches, participate in camps and attend events. Stars who have recently been involved in FCA include Tim Tebow, John Smoltz and Willie Robertson.

“I like getting together with others who share my faith and have the same goals,” Senior Emma Phillips said. “It’s like a big family when we come together and worship.”

The Chapman FCA Huddle meets every Thursday morning before school at 7:20 and breakfast is be provided. Although FCA is a sport ministry, everyone is welcome, even if you aren’t an athlete.
