For the first time, Chapman seniors will be allowed to paint their parking spots.
The cost for painting the spot is $50.
Seniors have to fill out an application and draw what they want to paint. They will turn in the drawing for approval.
For $50, seniors leave their mark at Chapman by painting their parking spot on Aug. 30 and Sept. 6.
In the past, students have asked permission to paint their spots but didn’t have a concrete plan. This year’s student council changed that.
“We put together a really well thought proposal to (Chapman Principal Matt) Davis, and I think the blend of our proposal and hearing from the students changed his mind,” said Student Council President Parker Gramling.
“I think they really wanted to push it this year because the other graduating classes have really wanted to do it,” senior student council member Gracie Greenway said. At the end of the year before graduation student council will go and paint over the painted parking spots.
Davis said that he thinks that seniors painting their parking lots will be a new tradition.
“I think since it’s organized, and they did such a good job, I’m willing to do it because now we have the spaces,” he said.
“I hope that the next student council to come can carry on the legacy and allow seniors to paint their spots for a long time to come,” said Gramling.
