This fall, Chapman welcomed Christina McAbee to the English department.
McAbee graduated from Woodruff High School and earned her degree from Spartanburg Methodist and Converse College.
She previously taught at Laurens High School and Byrnes.
She said she was ready for the change that comes with moving from larger schools and wanted a change of scenery.
“I wanted to teach in a small town, and I plan on moving up to the area because it’s so beautiful,” McAbee said.
McAbee said she is most excited to get to know the faculty and her students and to learn more about the school.
Her students said they are excited to continue the semester with McAbee and get to know her better.
Freshman Milana Artemova said McAbee is enjoyable to be around, which makes class easier.
“She’s very helpful with everything, and she’s such a sweet person to be around,” Artemova said.
Sophomore Caden Lachica said McAbee does things differently from other teachers in ways that help him and other students.
“I like how she has mailboxes in her class. She’s very organized, and it helps me and the people around me a lot,” Lachica said.
