After 10 years of teaching in the English department, Alex Colson decided to make a change.
She now serves as the district’s secondary academic coach, assisting administration and teachers at both Chapman and Landrum.
Although she enjoys her new role, Colson said it keeps her on her toes. She especially likes getting to know two different schools and learning more about Landrum, a place she was not as familiar with.
“(One goal is) getting to know the different culture at Landrum and really being able to give teachers the help they deserve,” she said.
Colson works closely with teachers to help them succeed in their classrooms.
She is excited about the change, but part of her still misses the English department.
“English is what I fell in love with, and I still do miss that aspect,” Colson said.
Although she still loves English, she sees her new role as an opportunity to keep learning and to expand her knowledge about education.
