Chapman soccer handles Broome
On Tuesday, March 27 Chapman defeated Broome in both junior varsity and varsity boys soccer, with JV winning 4-1 and varsity ending with a strong 6-0 victory.
The JV team was able to score four goals on Broome, with eighth-grader Lukas Schall scoring three for the hat trick. Captain Fernando Banda added one to that, ending the game with a 4-1 win for JV, who is now 3-3 in the region.
On the varsity side, Gabe Perry, the senior leader and captain, was sidelined with an ankle sprain, which helped Broome hold off Chapman at the beginning, with a 0-0 halftime score.
However, junior Keelen Flynt came up strong in the second half, scoring a landmark four goals, along with senior Shane Harris and freshman Alvaro Armendariz each adding a score to the total. Their offensive teamwork, along with a staunch defensive effort that refused to let Broome score, brought home a 6-0 win.
