Chapman on track to reach upper state
This year’s Region 3 AAA Track and Field Championship Meet was hosted by Broome High School.
“Broome has an advantage this year, it being at home for them,” Track and Field coach Robert Gray said. That didn’t stop Chapman from doing their best and leaving with 5 region champions and many upper state qualifiers.
Among the 2018 Region Track and Field champions was sophomore Diamond Martin, winning both long jump and triple jump. Senior Breana Mabry won discus, sophomore Jaymin Petty won discus, sophomore Albrey Gossett won 110 m. hurdles, and sophomore Dashun Mitchell won 400 m. hurdles. Next week is the Upper State competition where these people and more have qualified to compete and represent Chapman.
