Graduating high school in three years is not uncommon, but graduating in two years is rare. Sophomore Alinia Lutsik decided that finishing high school two years early was the best option for her.
“Honestly, the main reason is that I have all my credits and feel as if I have already gotten the high school experience,” Lutsik said. “I also feel that I am ready to take the next big step in life.”
To graduate early, Lutsik began taking high school-level courses in middle school and later completed summer classes with administrative approval.
Lutsik said her decision was driven by a desire to focus more intentionally on her future.
“Another reason why I am graduating is that I can no longer prioritize classes that affect my future,” Lutsik said.
Although she has experience with college-level coursework, Lutsik said balancing those classes alongside high school responsibilities proved challenging.
“Last semester I took a dual credit,” Lutsik said. “I got a good grade, but I always found myself doing everything last minute because I was more focused on high school classes.”
Despite her academic readiness, graduating early has not been without sacrifice.
“My biggest challenge is probably having to leave the tennis team behind,” Lutsik said.
Even so, Lutsik said she believes graduating early will better position her to pursue her long-term goals.
