Forensic science is a class focused on studying fingerprints, evidence collection and legal procedures.
Students participate in research activities and hands-on stations throughout the course.
The class is taught by Tina Gragg.
To enroll, students must complete Biology 1 and Chemistry. The course is primarily taken by juniors and seniors.
A major component of the class is the Panther Crime Scene.
Students learn how to analyze and trace evidence as part of simulated investigations.
“We learn about the different types of evidence, track hairs and fibers, fingerprints and how to tell them apart,” Gragg said.
Many students say they enjoy the course.
“I think that forensic science is a really fun class to take,” senior Lily Cothran said.
Junior Alexander McCarter also said he enjoyed the class.
“Learning how to identify different blood types and who it belongs to was fun to learn,” McCarter said.
Gragg said she also enjoys teaching the subject.
“I enjoy teaching it,” Gragg said. “I like the subject matter. It’s interesting and a fun class to teach.”
