Spring break will take place April 6-10.
Students throughout the school have different plans for the week. Some are traveling to places a little less common than the usual beach trip.
Junior Vivian Lee will travel with her family to Italy to visit her sister, who is studying abroad. While there, Lee will visit Milan, Lake Como and Florence, and she plans to hike in the Dolomites.
“I’m most excited to hike the Dolomites,” Lee said. “It’s a big mountain range over there.”
Freshman Martin Long is going to Cape San Blas, Florida, where he plans to spend time at the beach and relax with his family.
Junior Lola Hoss is visiting both Paris and Mexico over break.
While Hoss plans to explore, she said she wants to focus more on the little things in each place rather than the main tourist attractions.
However, spring break is not just a time for students to be out of school. It can mean much more.
“Spring break is necessary for all students because each semester we put in so much work with every class we take, and we’re always putting in as much work as we physically can,” Hoss said.
Students need time to decompress and focus on themselves for a moment.
Another part of traveling is the memories and traditions families make.
It could be something as simple as making time to play Uno at least one night on vacation, as Lee’s family does, or cooking a homemade meal.
“Whenever we go to the beach, we usually make a shrimp and grits meal with potato salad,” Long said.
It can also be a more meaningful tradition. For instance, Hoss said her dad collects snow globes everywhere he travels.
“My dad and I always collect snow globes,” Hoss said. “I am excited to finally get one of my own that I can pick out with him and look back on.”
