Jones celebrating after the touchdown to bring Chapman back into the lead

After a 48-20 win against Chesnee on Oct. 25, the Chapman Panthers finished out their season undefeated AAA Region Champions, securing their spot in the playoffs. The following week, the team practiced throughout their bye and prepared for round one against Emerald.

On Nov. 9, the Chapman Panthers faced the Emerald Vikings at Chapman.

The game was intense and required the boys to push themselves harder than they had throughout the regular season. Going into the second half, Chapman was down by one (20-21) due to a missed field goal, but that fueled them to push harder.

Despite a lack of scoring in the third quarter, the Panthers pushed through in the fourth.

Sophomore Brandon Jones and junior Da’shun Mitchell, along with other key players from both sides of the ball, managed to pull it together and put up 22 points in the fourth. Despite one final touchdown, the defense held Emerald back, bringing the final score to 42-28 and pushing Chapman into the second round.

The Panthers will take on Camden next Friday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Chapman High School.
