Girls tennis traveled to the Lexington Tennis Center on Saturday to face the girls at Bishop England who are no strangers to the state championship. The Battling Bishops have a very prestigious tennis program that has won state the last eight years.

Despite losing in the championship, the Panthers have nothing to be ashamed of, sporting a 95-10 record overall for the season.  They are also claiming their first region championship in 17 years. The team has a ton of young talent that will bring more success to the program for years to come.

But for seniors Parker Morin and Sarah Margaret-Reid, their time has come to an end. It is a big accomplishment in itself to dedicate yourself to a sport for four years of high school, and some even playing for two years in middle school on top of that.

For Coach Caleb Crittendon, he plans on building on the success that he has already helped bring to the team. Just finishing his second year of coaching, he has already made a huge impact in the little time that he has spent with the program. It takes a positive coach in order to succeed and there is no arguing that Crittendon fits the bill.

Singles players Elizabeth Williams and Alex Kinlaw have also qualified for the singles tournament which showcases the top 32 players in the state.

We congratulate the Panthers on winning the upper state championship for the first time in history and wish the graduating players all the best.
