Superintendent Molly Spearman visits Chapman
Chapman started off the week with a visit from State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman, who came to congratulate students and staff on the National Blue Ribbon award.
After a warm welcome from student council members and the singing of the alma mater by CHS chorus students, Spearman addressed those in attendance.
“I’m here to celebrate what you have done,” Spearman said. “I want to thank you for being such great students, administrators and board members.”
During her visit, Spearman visited classrooms and spoke with teachers and board members about the current climate in public education. She also presented senior Christopher Freire with a plaque of recognition for being named the South Carolina JROTC Cadet of the Year.
Spearman praised the many opportunities Chapman offers as well as its students and administrators, and was sure to remind students to be appreciative and proud of their school.
“Be thankful and grateful that you live here in Inman, and that you can go to such a wonderful school,” Spearman said. “My dream is that every student in South Carolina would have the chance to go to a school with this quality because everybody deserves this.”
