Reflections on a pandemic education

My senior year has been far off from what I expected.

With this said, you cannot go through a pandemic and expect things to stay the same. Pandemic education is a different mindset entirely.

Changes had to come with the pandemic.

So far, while my year has been different, it has still been a good year. I understand the limitations because of everything going on. I walked in knowing I should not compare this to other years but rather as a stand-alone year with immense challenges.

Yes, I know we are all sick of this and just wanted standard schooling back, but I remember being home March through the end of last year missing school.

When I got the phone call at the end of March saying we could not go back in May, I cried. I never knew how much this school and the people here mean to me.

I am still grateful for this crazy, different, plexiglass year.

No, we do not have as many group projects or interactions with people as we did in previous years, but I am so glad I get to see everyone again before I head to college.

Chapman’s faculty and staff value every student’s health and safety, and that is clear after this year.

Apex Learning and the rest of online learning was a challenge for me, but with help and guidance from my teachers, I was able to modify the way I learned to fit this unique year.

Teachers understand everything going on and help in any way they can. They always take time out of their lives to answer emails and meet online with students.

This year has been unlike any other, but I have still learned a lot and am overall blessed to get to be here my senior year.
