One time, two times — that’s it

Students should not be allowed to retake classes more than once.

Allowing students to retake everything as often as they want to makes it too easy for them to not put in any effort.

When you say to students, “If you fail, I’ll see you again next semester,” it tells them that their grade doesn’t matter. When they’re sure that they have eight semesters to get it done, there is not as much of a push to get it done the first time.

If we didn’t allow a retake and made it clear to them that they have one shot, it would let them know to get it right  the first time. There are many students who have the potential to get good grades, scholarships and more, but nobody is pushing them where they need to be.

Another reason it should not be allowed is students have more than enough time to study, get help from teachers and even do extra credit in many classes. Our school offers more than enough opportunities for us as students for us not to have as many failing grades as we do.

Teachers work hard on lessons preparing us for finals and college, and it’s not fair for them to have to spend time giving test retakes and seeing the same people in classes simply because we allow our students to not find a way to give their best every time.

I believe that by not allowing class retakes it will make it where students will be forced to put forward effort and boost performances in all class types.
