Athlete schedules are not healthy or sustainable

Burnout is more common in athletes than you think.

And it’s because of the crazy stress they endure every day to be the best of the best.

Athletes put themselves in danger because if they don’t play this last game, their whole life is over. For example, the football player Ronnie Lott made an awful decision to amputate his pinky instead of going to a doctor and rehab. He felt it was the only option because he was integral to the 49ers at the time.

It doesn’t matter how big of a part you play in a game, you should never put your life at risk because of a match.

Division l football players have the craziest schedules I have ever heard of. They wake up at 5 a.m. for practice and probably won’t go to bed till around midnight, which is crazy.

They only get around five hours of sleep, which isn’t suitable for anyone.

On top of their workout schedule, college athletes have to get out on a field every day and have to remember a play when they are supposed to be on top of the game.

One of the most common things that happen in the sports world is when an athlete’s couch knows you are hurt or sick and they still make you play, and it isn’t right. More consideration should be given to taking care of athletes at all levels.
