Former Globetrotter Melvin Adams visits Chapman

Relaying a message of perseverance and self-worth, former Harlem Globetrotter Melvin Adams spoke to the Chapman student body Wednesday.

Adams, who graduated from San Jose Christian College before joining the Globetrotters, told students about the importance of working hard, respecting themselves and valuing education.

The student response to Adams’ speech was overwhelmingly positive.

“He was inspirational and hilarious,” sophomore Gracie Hildebrandt.

Teachers also appreciated his message.

“He did a great job of reaching out to a diverse student population,” science teacher Ryan Mandlove said.

Adams said that he will be returning to Chapman in January.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him again,” freshman Bailey Condrey said.
