Global warming stands on shaky science

Lane Penley

“Global warming is the main contributor to the polar ice cap becoming significantly smaller and smaller each year.”

This is what many scientists and theorist say when asked about the cause of the melting of the ice in the arctic. I disagree with the idea of pollution causing the natural ozone layer in the atmosphere to dissolve, which is said to lead to global warming.

The planet has been experiencing trends in the overall yearly temperature and even the weather since it was first recorded. It has even been said that there will be another ice age in the future.

If this is true, then why is global warming even an issue? The animals in the arctic have  survived such events before, and it is no more severe this time. Over a period of a few hundred years, the average temperature for the planet has gone up and down in the past.

How is it possible that the planet is warmer than ever if Fairbanks, AK has just received record breaking snow for September? This does not support the theory of global warming. How can the scientists technically explain why this is the case?

Any right-minded person would think that if the average world temperature is rising annually, then the weather events around the world would be in-line with the theory.

Personally, I know that if the temperature was actually rising each year, wouldn’t you be seeing news like this:

“Fairbanks, AK experiences record high temperature for September.”

I would definitely agree with the global warming theory if this were the case.

But until there is tangible evidence of a rise in the average global temperature, I will not support or agree with the global warming theory. But hey, maybe all of these record amounts of snowfall are caused by a possible, global cooling?
