Introducing School Resource Officer Kyle Rios

This semester, Officer Kyle Rios began working at Chapman as the school resource officer.

Rios served in the military before entering law enforcement.

“I wanted to be in public service because I enjoy helping people,” Rios said.

Rios said that being a police officer meant that no two days were the same; schools, however, are a bit different.

“The school is a more controlled environment,” he said. “I know the ins and outs of the building, and I can manage the school better.”

Still, working in a school has challenges.

“The hardest part is remembering all the names,” he said.

One of Rios’ strengths is working with people.

“Officer Rios is outstanding,” Assistant Principal Amy Driggers said. “He is good at his job, but he’s also great at building relationships with the students and teachers.”

As Rios continues to work at Chapman, he is excited to get to know the students, faculty, and staff better, but above all else, he has one goal:

“My number one priority is to make sure the school is safe.”
