A scenic, southern delight at Caro-Mi

Originated in 1945, a local favorite restaurant has provided southern-style food in a rustic setting.

Caro-Mi is nestled along the banks of Tryon’s Pacolet River that runs through the Blue Ridge Foothills. The river provides a great atmosphere and setting for the restaurant as it is directly adjacent to the building. The sound of the water rushing around the rocks makes for a soothing and relaxing experience.

When you arrive, you are met with a very old covered bridge that leads you to the restaurant. You can drive across the bridge and park if you choose.

The building, which is seventy years old, fits the setting of the restaurant perfectly and makes you feel like you are just at Grandma’s house for dinner.

The staff is always friendly, and the service is just as you would expect.

When you are seated, you are immediately served biscuits with apple butter and then your choice of appetizer.

The menu includes fresh locally-raised trout, wild-caught Mahi-Mahi, several types of shrimp, and an assortment of chicken dishes.

All of the food is very well prepared and seasoned to perfection. I had the opportunity to try everything on the menu and each tasted as good as the last.

I would recommend this restaurant to anybody that is wanting to get away from the normal style restaurants and wants to experience a twist on southern-style seafood and sides that include macaroni, green beans, cooked apples, and biscuits.

The prices are a little high but I feel that this is compensated by the great food and impressive service. The average meal will cost you around 18 dollars including your drink.

All in all, I would rate Caro-Mi a 9 out of 10, only losing a point due to the expensive prices. That being said, it is definitely a place to go when you feel like you want to open up the wallet for some quality food.
